Illinois political heavyweights, including Durbin and Pritzker, set stage for intriguing 2025 – WGNTV (Chicago)

Two of those big names on everyone’s radar are U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and Governor JB Pritzker, who are both up for re-election. Should Durbin decide not to run again, speculation surrounds Congressmen Raja Kirshnamoorthi and Mike Quigley, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood, Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias and Attorney General Kwame Raoul.

People 80 years old or older shouldn’t be allowed to run for state or federal office. We can revisit this age threshold when the average life expectancy increases another 10 years or so.

OK, downvoters, but does it make sense to have a minimum age threshold to become President and not a maximum age threshold?

There’s no gerrymandering in state elections. It’s time for the GOP to make a stand.

WGN can’t help but push the extreme leftist progressive BS, even after the butt kicking they took a month ago. How are the ratings going at WGN?

I love the look off distain on Michah’s face when she has to mention or even hear the name Trump. You’d think someone let a really wet one within sniffing distance.

Why the statement that this job doesn’t open very often? It is up for election every 6 years. Why do we assume we HAVE to elect she same failed lifelong candidates if they are running? This country needs new vision and new candidates. Now! Mr Durbin hasn’t represented Illinois for the last 20 years.

WGN is such a bootlicker propaganda media outlet. Putting Underwood, Giannoulias and Raoul on this list is so offensive to the populace. Between the 3 of them the only thing they have done is Giannoulias drove a bank into bankruptcy.

Durbin is running again. That’s why he’s shooting his mouth off about stupid crap as he prepares for his 2026 reelection bid. He’ll likely resign halfway through his term and allow JB Fatso to appoint a new BIPOC senator to finish out his term. It’s the Illinois way

Raoul and Underwood the favorites. They check the right boxes. Outside chance for Raja, though not likely. The others should just stay home.

Why don’t they just appoint people and save IL republicans the effort from going to the polls and pretending their votes count.

We need a Republican senator, not a far left senator. Tired of all these far left people not representing the taxpayers of Illinois. Duckworth can go too. She does nothing but collect a paycheck.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
