Illinois running low on power as AI data centers spike electricity demand – Chicago Sun-Times

The now-closed NRG Waukegan Generating Station is seen from this aerial view in June 2022. The plant closed for economic reasons, though Illinois has encouraged fossil fuel plants to shut down. The outlook is bleak, according to a just-released report from Gov. JB Pritzker’s administration, as demand is sky high and older sources of power, such as coal plants, are shutting down. Newer sources of “clean” power, such as wind and solar, are not coming online quickly enough.

There are so many high-cost projects that our Illinois leaders are ill-equipped to manage responsibly.

CST still trumpeting the global warming crisis as all the lefties fly around in their private jets. Let’s make AI centers build their own self-sufficient plants before opening instead of crushing the Illinois consumers. There are bills coming from the feds that will make AI supply their own power, but JB will undoubtedly try to fight that. Why have AI pay when the IL consumer can?

Here is when the smart meters come into play I’m sorry to say. Glad I didn’t allow them to put one on my house.

Forced premature closings of perfectly fine coal fired electric generation capacity was unplanned and intentional by Pritzker and Biden.
