Illinois’ struggling unemployment program to run out of money in May – Illinois Policy

The state’s unemployment system has been a problem for years, being slow to react to claims and making financial errors. It sent out $142 million erroneously last year, recovering less than $1 out of every $5 after mistakes were discovered. It also just exposed private data for some self-employed workers who on May 11 became eligible for benefits.

Will not run out of pension money. Taxpayers and their properties are unlimited ATM machines for taxing bodies.

Not unlimited. As the cost of monthly property taxes (plus maintenance cost) approaches the cost of monthly rent for a similar piece of property the value of the property moves closer to zero. At that point the state essentially owns each property and rents it out to its’ citizens.

True. We never own our properties. In the 39 counties under PTELL if all the properties go down to $1.00 each they can still collect what was owed from the year before and up to 5% more because it is what was levied not billed or collected. This is all happening in various areas of state technology infrastructure because there is no capital planning; no reinvestment; no money.

Why is there no money? Because the public sector unions take every dollar that is available. They allow for nothing to go towards the benefit of our state taxpayers. They want it all, and they take it all.

the unions take the money, and the unions give campaign money back to the Democrats. The democrats then give the great pay and perks to the unions, repeat. the IL citizens get stuck holding the bill when we never even agreed to any of this. there needs to be a way to stop this …public unions need to be outlawed solves the problem just ask wisconsin …

well if it does run out of money then some people will go hungry ….when people go hungry there will most likely be social unrest. just amazing that this could even happen when we pay the highest state taxes of any other state.
