Lightford: Session delay will not deter Black Caucus agenda – Illinois State Democrats

"I agree with President Harmon and Speaker Madigan that the risk is too high to convene at this time,” said Lightford, chair of the ILBC. “While we will not be able to pass legislation as soon as we hoped, the urgency to bring an end to systemic racism remains.”

Is this comment a joke Senator Lightford? Your state is the laughingstock of the entire country and gets international criticism for just about every aspect of your fiscal management. You have the silliest Covid restrictions in the entire country. Four or five of Chicago’s major industries are on the verge of extinction. Your expressways have turned in to shooting galleries. Crime is out of control and national websites report almost daily on the shootings and fatalities in the City. Your public schools are closed and the at home learning program is a disaster.. Number of half-empty Chicago public schools doubles, yet lawmakers want to extend school closing moratorium – Wirepoints

A set of state lawmakers want to extend CPS’ current school closing moratorium to February 1, 2027 – the same year CPS is set to transition to a fully-elected school board.
