They’re as unbiased as the universities that started them. Example WUOM and KUOW. Lately they’ve tried to pretend independence but the call letters are a brand they can’t entirely escape.
PBS sailed under the radar for a long time. Their editorial slant is obvious, except to those who share it.
It’s not the end of the world for them. They can sell advertising and compete. Offering left-leaning programming worked out well for Air America and Current TV, and continues to attract viewers to CNN and MSNBC, right?
The lack of self awareness is breathtaking: “I do not believe we are politically biased,” Maher said. “We are a nonbiased organization.” Moreso she has had SEVEN months since the November elections to plan for this clearly inevitable result. She could have gutted and rebuilt the news staff and programming to more accurately conform to the general public and maybe have some slim chance of changing her organization. Instead she remained within her DC bubble and did nothing. The soon-to-be-unemployed NPR and PBS staffers should be appalled.
She should have no place in journalism. In a TED Talk about her time at Wikipedia, she said Wikipedia’s focus is not on finding objective truth but on achieving a “minimum viable truth” that is “right enough” for most people. She described truth as a “distraction” and suggested that Wikipedia prioritizes consensus over absolute accuracy, acknowledging that its content can be “inaccurate and incomplete at times.” Defund them and fire her.
PBS is no different than USAID – lean it out, way out.
How appalling. Gimme, gimme gimme, says the most biased of sources to taxpayers.
A cessation of Federal funding is long overdue to PBS and it’s outlets that refuse to hire those more center than far left, push narratives in line with AOC, Crackpot Bernie and always bring the racism angle into everything. They are about as unbiased as Pravda. When grilled as to why her staff overwhelmingly identified as Dem, the director of PBS stammered something about being unaware of that fact and turned as white as Casper the Ghost , as she did when confronted with the fact she took a day or so off to read some anti- white, Marxist tome(… Read more »
