Mayor halts hiring in ‘all departments’ — even police and fire — to confront budget crisis – Chicago Sun-Times

Dozens of new Chicago Police Department officers take an oath during the graduation of Recruit Class 21-3 and 21-4 and promotion ceremony at the Aon Grand Ballroom in Navy Pier, Tuesday morning, March 29, 2022. | Pat Nabong/Sun-TimesPressed on whether CPD can afford to freeze hiring while operating nearly 2,000 officers short, Civic Federation President Joe Ferguson said: “That’s the conversation that needs to be had. And frankly, a critical actor in all of that too often is missing from that conversation: the Chicago City Council. They have to ask those questions.”

Now the police will be defunded by attrition…just what the Chicagoans recently demanded.

The first thing they go to is police and fire in order to scare the simps into being more agreeable to higher taxes. Of course, it always works on you slaves. Just pony up and pay. That’s all Illinoisans are good for.

Easy start, eliminate all the things funded by temporary fed covid money. And next election, vote, that’s not hard either.

A hiring freeze? That literally won’t cut it. Without federal COVID funds, Chicago and Illinois will have to dramatically slash their headcounts and services to reflect the exodus of residents, employers, jobs and tax revenues.

At some point the piper needs to get paid. It appears Chicago is one step closer to realizing that there aren’t infinite sums of money to continue with programs that were implemented during better times (like free fed money from Dementia Joe). All the money spent on illegals and things like guaranteed income programs sure would come in handy right now. Chicagoans should head over to the local Home Depot and get some hoses. They’ll be putting out their own fires soon.
