Much of the routine trade and investment between China and America is entirely appropriate and in America’s interest. But inserting the Chinese Communist Party into America’s pay-to-play system and its economic development strategy isn’t just crossing a line. It’s a leap into an abyss of stupidity.
Knowing the way Chicago operates, the taxpayers were screwed when the parking meters were sold….and they will be screwed again if the city buys them back.
Let’s see now. Chicago is in deep debt, can’t figure out how to collect to collect that strange $8 Billion and now he wants to borrow $1 billion to buy back Chicago’s parking meters. Which dumb loaning institition would loan him more that one cent?
More debt. Lets bury Chicago deeper
Next up, a tax on parking fees.
A great idea! If they can tax other revenue, why not parking? Owners of office buildings have to pay much of their rental revenue in real estate taxes. Why not owners of parking rights?
Further proof the city is dying. Maybe Johnson is getting tired of writing a big fat check every year for the growing number of meter exempt placards taking up more and more parking.
Watch the world’s stupidest mayor buy back the rights to parking meters at an exorbitant price while no one is going into CHI anymore to use them. Moron.
Robbing Peter to pay Paul and then robbing Paul to pay Peter!
I could have a municipal finance consultant!
Brandon wants to have race based parking rates as reparations.
BJ’s school of finance: Sell low, buy high. How exactly are they planning to purchase something for a few billion dollars?
Either this is a joke or a very, very bad joke. The joke is “where is he going to get the money to pay for them?” The very, very bad joke is “how much is he going to raise taxes to actually buy them?”
