Mayor Johnson has no idea how to put out Chicago’s crime inferno – Wirepoints on AM 560 Chicago’s Morning Answer

Ted joined Dan and Amy to talk about the Chicago area’s violent weekend with 71 shot and 11 murdered, why Mayor Johnson is leaning further into progressive policy “solutions,” why Gov. Pritzker is staying away from Chicago as he prepares to run for president, why “evidence-based” funding may end up in higher education, and more.

Wire point readers should check out CWBCHICAGO.COM and see the constant parade of stories about multi convicted felons roaming the streets after serving a small portion of a prison sentence. Soft on crime legislation, soft on crime States Attorney, soft on crime judges are a disaster. Today a story of a 4 time convicted burglar who has served several short stints in prison who was arrested just 4 days after getting out of prison for a burglary charge. The bond judge held him under a $5000 bond which means only $500 to get out. Free to roam the streets and… Read more »

…stand by for the magas to highlight “in a ditch” IL/CHI around Dem convention time in 2024….they are already highlighting out of control San Francisco

There’s a lot of Kumbaya going on in the Johnson Administration and very little actual problem solving. He’s got a lot of long term ideas that have possibilities but what is needed are short term solutions. Like a city-wide curfew, enforced with real consequences for the violators, like jail.

Normal people realize when your in a hole, stop digging. Johnson’s verbiage and lack of action shows this is intentional to stoke crime.

So did Lightfoot and Pritzker when they stood back and allowed the violent BLM to loot and tear up the Mag Mile.

Can we deduct the losses caused by this wilding from the total we’ll be paying? If so, let’s also deduct the cost of the education the government provides and the cost of The Great Society of Pres. Johnson; the costs associated with uninsured auto losses, underinsured property left abandoned. Etc..etc.

“Progressives” rarely are able to govern and do the business of the people. Actually running a city as large as Chicago takes knowledge and skill. Professional protesters like BJ will deflect blame and work to sow more division because actual governance and management of the city and it’s departments is so much harder. So because of that it will continue to be a $#@$ show through and during the Democratic Convention. The mayor is clueless and Ted is correct, Pritzker will do everything he can to stay away from the city. The city is a mess and it’s only a… Read more »

We’ve lived through this before, it was called 1970- 1990 and cities like Huntley or Buffalo grove or Orland Park wouldn’t exist but for the partial collapse of the city. The difference then, as compared to now, is that the suburbs were less diverse and far more Republican. Today, the fleeing residents are hard core Democrats and they spread their disease wherever they move like Typhoid Mary’s. These Democrats are going to destroy the entire region, which will an achievement for them in malgovernance. There is simply no amount of crime, no amount of lunacy, no amount of craziness, no… Read more »

Probably the only thing saving the suburban housing market is Chicago flight. Eventually the crime will spill over into more and more sub borders.

I got to disagree with Ted & Dan that JB doesn’t care about crime in Chicago?….simply because JB & Ill dems are going to look really bad if crime is still thru the roof come convention time in ’24’. They got to do something or blame somebody. I don’t think the blame it on “community disinvestment” CTU/Brandon schtick is going to fly nationally especially when other cities w similar demographics have way less crime & spend less

The Marxist democrats like JB, BJ, and the rest of the apparatchiks will foment dystopia and anarchy, with the assistance of the MSM, and blame the racist MAGAs and white supremacy for the condition of Chicago during the convention. Sadly it will work.

What’s to be expected from people that voted for a mental deficient that wouldn’t come out of his basement and re- elected a clueless, trust fund baby that’s trying to be the biggest Marxicrat in America.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
