Mayor Johnson promises “more sophisticated, sharper response” after weekend violence in Chicago – WGNTV (Chicago)

“I think it’s important that we’re reflective about our approach to public safety,” Johnson said. “What I find disingenuous is, where were these individuals when schools were being shut down and closed? Did they have a critique then?”

The mayor will strike a more avuncular pose as he lectures us it’s our fault. He’ll also wear a McGregor plaid vest. It’s an appropriate sartorial statement when roaring off the Cliffs of Insanity.

And Gavin is too busy shaping his pompadour. It’s a shame adv is an absolutely beautiful city. I particularly liked playing golf at the Presideo in the fog. Good neighbourhood restaurants

More blah, blah blah. We are turning into Caracas Norte. The “lynchpin is to build partnerships.” Great. Let’s have some partnerships. Partnerships to do what? That’s like saying “I am going to start a business”, but you don’t have an actual business. More collaboration? To collaborate on what? His plan is to say ” I have a plan.”

We are quickly heading to a spiral like downtown San Francisco. The news today there is two of the largest hotels in the city are shutting down. And he Mayor there is in total denial that anything is going wrong.

While I’m clearly 100% against illegal immigration, I recognize that from a purely crime perspective, Caracas Norte (or right now, demographically, it’s more of a Michoacan Norte) would be major improvement over whatever Roseland and Pullman are now, which are arguably some of the most violent neighborhoods in the entire world. The difference in crime rates between hispanic neighborhoods and black neighborhoods is readily apparent, especially in neighborhoods that border each other. Yes, there are other problems and trade-offs for turning black neighborhoods into hispanic neighborhoods, but objectively, from a crime perspective, one is clearly better than another. The larger… Read more »

You really think that Brandon Johnson is better than Hugo Chavez? I’m not convinced. Both are cut from the same pinko mold.

No, I don’t think he’s better than Hugo Chavez, but Brandon hasn’t yet destroyed the city, but he very well might be.

Don’t forget that the CTU’s Jessie Sharkey and some of his posse went to Venezuela. Wanted to talk to the sympatico brothers on the great condition of socialism in Caracas. And Chicago is not Caracas Norte yet– but heck– the mayor has been in office only a couple of weeks. give him some time.

Probability of shootings every weekend in 50+ range isn’t about “sophistication” of CPD response to violence which has already occurred. Mayor Johnson seems to be struggling to blame out-of-control violence on anything but root cause: armed young, mostly male, mostly black, offenders committing violent crimes and shootings without fear of prosecution or incarceration, enabled by woke rhetoric and lax policing policies to act-out their aggressions. Mayor Johnson needs to allow CPD cops to do “stop and frisk”, to confiscate the guns from young black men doing 95% of these shootings. “Gun Control” only affects legal gun-owners, not the multitude of… Read more »

For young black men, possession of a firearm in Chicago is almost always charged as a misdemeanor. You can thank Kimmy Foxx for that. When felonies charges are given out for gun possession, maybe there can be improvement in reducing violent crime.

If even a misdemeanor, often charges are just dropped altogether.

“What I find disingenuous is, where were these individuals when schools were being shut down and closed? Did they have a critique then?” Jesus weeps. I’d say Brandon earns about a 10.9 on the 1 to 10 Stupidmeter jumbotron ranking scoreboard for this lame mendacity. My wife reports that supervisors from her Federal agency were recently invited to meet BJ at a public event where Brandon actually asked representatives from the Veterans Administration how they could reassign VA employees to supervising the activities of Chicago’s sanctuary-city illegal aliens. The stunned Regional supervisors, who have as much influence over the Biden… Read more »

I often say anecdotes can be very valuable, albeit with a need to filter them properly, particularly through the lens of solid data. If Johnson suggested to federal regional VA officials that they manage migrant activity, he is so far over his head it is not funny. It actually is sad.

I was stunned when she told me. Had her repeat it a couple of times, something I’m pretty careful about doing with my wife – given her PhD predisposition to believe that I should know exactly what she’s thinking at all times, “because, well, just because.” She tells me that there were several different agencies and community this-n-that and hoi palloi in attendance. If what her supervisors described is correct, lots of folks would have heard it. Probably a self congratulatory press release about it somewhere. And, as you say, not funny and actually sad. But, then, the Biden Administration… Read more »

Brandon’s stupidity might not be his belief that the VA can be reassigned to assist migrants, but instead, he was dumb enough to say the quiet part out loud. What if the Biden Regime, behind the scenes, promised Brandon the reassignment of VA staff from Veterans to help illegal immigrants. Brandon was supposed to keep this secret but instead, shows up like a moron with no filter, and gave away the Biden Regime’s plans. Remember, *everything* the Biden Regime does is a political act designed to reward their supporters and harm their detractors. I could give a million examples of… Read more »

I know my opinion of the Biden Regime violates Hanlon’s Razor (“Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity”) but no administration in the history of the United States has been this incompetent, which makes me believe that this is all intentional. Absolute corruption is the ‘omnipotent force’ that describes everyone of Biden’s actions. Ben Shapiro consistently rails on all the Biden cabinet for being ‘bad at their jobs’. But if you look at differently, in a more cynical way, they’re not bad at their jobs, if their job is to create chaos, sow discontent, punish their… Read more »

Let’s just say he sees his life’s cup as 1/2 full and forever blames the remaining emptiness on the easily targeted “them.” It reminds me of Pres. Nixon’s enemies list. If its your ongoing need to search for enemies chances area you’ll be able to create a large number of them. The opposite likely is true as well: if you search for friends you’ll probably find a large number of them. Your mindset will determine how much effort you spend on each and the numbers of people on any such set.

Did President Nixon not have enemies? Is it not true that the permanent bureaucracy was out to get him? We all know the infamous ‘Deep Throat’ feeding Woodward and Berstein tips was an active FBI agent (Mark Felt)… Woodward and Berstein were FBI assets, and Mark Felt was their handler… Fast forward 50 years later, the FBI planted a fake news story about Russia with yahoo! news, and the used that news story as proof of Russian collision to spy on Trumps campaign, and then bogged down his presidency. This was all in the Durham report released several weeks ago.… Read more »

Your mindset greatly influences what your life becomes and ultimately how happy you are each step along the way. Surely you’ve known at least a few people whose income was relatively low while their happiness level seemed higher than what you might feel in the same situation. Then, there are some at the other income extreme who are forever angry or depressed. When you think of Pre. Trump do you think he exudes anger or happiness more predominantly? Personally I’ve never seen a man so wealthy yet so simultaneously angry almost every time I’ve seen him. He NEVER appears to… Read more »

Some people are happy “warriors,” and others are not. Those who are the former are more content with their lives if appearance and enthusiasm are reasonably good predictors.
