Mayor Lightfoot said, “Yesterday, there were a series of steps backward that were simply not productive, and we have conveyed that problem to the CTU leadership in the strongest terms possible...“There’s no reason why we shouldn’t have gotten it done yesterday, or Tuesday, or Monday, but today is the day. My patience is up."
“What a Fool Believes” is the title of a great song by Michael McDonald. What Der Mayor believes is that she is one tough hombre. The reality that Der Mayor has always ignored is that Der Mayor always gives the CTU every thing they ask for.

Is this like Obama’s Syrian red line?
It is laughable that she thinks CTU would respond to her empty threats.

Well that will certainly scare the CTU and solve the problem and show them how tough you are– just tell them your patience is up. And what else will you do to really get this crisis solved– tell them you are not happy?

I get the feeling that CTU is simply waiting CPS out, playing out the clock. We are seeing dramatically lower Covid numbers, and we may just hit CTU’s number requirements in just a matter of time. The other piece of this is that they are trying to get something for nothing. I heard about the other progressive ideas in their demands, and I had to chuckle. They never miss a chance. I agree with you, but I don’t think Chicagoans care all that much. Just the cost of living in a “world class city,” as they like to call it.
CTU will win until a real mayor with a business background is elected. That person will know how to negotiate (hopefully) and will use the tools at their disposal to balance these lopsided, ridiculous “discussions.”
If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.
Simple solution: Fire their asses. Bust CTU.

I don’t see that happening any time soon.
