Michael Madigan sentenced to 7.5 years in prison, $2.5M fine, for corruption convictions – Chicago Sun-Times

“To put it bluntly, it was a nauseating display,” the judge said during the former speaker’s long-anticipated sentencing hearing Friday. Then, the judge locked eyes with Madigan, the man once regarded as the state’s most powerful politician. Judge John Blakey looked down at him from the bench and said, “you lied, sir. You lied. You did not have to. You had a right to sit there and exercise your right to silence. But you took that stand and you took the law into your own hands.”

Maybe one of Crook Madigan’s grandkids can explain to him what FAFO means.

I hate that smile on Madigan’s face. Bet he only ends up serving a few months after appeals.
Last sentence of article–And, in the end, Madigan took no responsibility for his crimes.

Odd that there’s no statement from CTU/Brandon, Stacy & crew on Madigan sentencing? As Brando has claimed he’s the first non-machine working-class mayor “fighting the white machine” against the systemic legacy of historic community disinvestment, blah, blah, blah, BS…..all while he and Stacy have spent their entire carpetbagger careers in the dem machine and are $$PROFITING BIG TIME$$ by legislation rubber stamped by Madigan with regard to their pensions, multiple salaries, etc, etc…WOW!! the hypocrisy makes your head spin!!!

Do any of the countless millions of Illinois public sector folks, pols, etc who $$cleaned-up$$ under 40 yrs of rubber stamp from this crook feel an once of contrition? Or simply, do you just now blindly mail off your union dues to “friends of Welsh”, “friend of Harmon”, etc….and “oink-oink” life goes on in the guaranteed deal, upper-income, public sec paradise of Illinois.

Actually, the cover of the book Illinois Pension Scam features pigs feeding at a trough.
And the public sector millionaires will not even acknowledge that their pensions are bankrupting Illinois.
The pensionaires I know have large homes, vacation homes, several new cars in the driveway, no worries about health insurance….. For the public sector, there’s always more money via taxpayers’ pockets while most private sector people have to work longer for less and put up with crazy property taxes.
And all because there’s no one representing the taxpayer at the bargaining table. And because corruption runs rampant in Illinois.

From observing what went on at Chicago City Colleges, public sector folks don’t care about the corruption. They just want the SURS pension. And crime and corruption are OK with some of them. Former vice chancellor of CCC Sharod Gordon was found with his hands in the cookie jar and was sentenced to more than 5 years for a procurement fraud scheme. You hear about the high profile individuals getting caught at CCC. What you don’t hear about are the clerical workers and nonteaching staff who have ties to gang members, thieves, and drug dealers. You also don’t hear about… Read more »

Too short a term and they should have drained his accounts.

The big crime boss finally falls after decades – The Combine views this as a managable cost of their corrupt business.

Get rid of the obscene gerrymandering, and you start to crack The Combine:

He should have a much longer sentence; he sentenced generations of Illinois residents to pay for his sins. On the other hand, he did what Illinois politicians do, sell out the taxpayer at every chance they get. Erect a statue of him to remind everyone what politicians do for them.

Erect a statue about as tall as a fire hydrant so the dogs can enjoy it.
