Minnesota, Illinois AGs challenge federal orders to keep coal plants running – Center Square

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, joined by Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, filed the petitions for judicial review against U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright. Ellison argued the U.S. Department of Energy “unlawfully” invoked emergency powers to keep the plants operating, a move he said will increase costs for ratepayers throughout the Midwest.

Closing of coal powered energy production in Illinois should happen when Illinois stops exporting coal to other countries for their energy production.

That cheap southern illinois coal produced electric doesn’t seem so bad now and, should the plants reopen, productive job creation too

As per his usual MO, AG Ellison (D – Learing Center) has this situation completely backwards and wants to force chumbolones to pay for more expensive and unreliable electricity.
