The new law went into effect Jan. 1, and requires gun owners to report any potentially or missing guns sooner. Now, gun owners will need to alert law enforcement within 48 hours of discovering the firearm is gone, instead of 72 hours. There’s an onus on storing guns securely around youths as well. Previously, the law defined minors as youths 14 and under. Now, it’s been extended to 18.
So 48 hrs instead of 72. I can see where that improves gun safety. At least if your 14 you don’t have to wait until your 18 to qualify for gender care.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
