Peoria Landlord

As a full time landlord in Peoria I have some of my properties on section 8 (hud wants it call housing choice voucher now a days) there are some advantages to the program. the direct deposit is never late. Some of the required codes are silly but easy to get a property passed. the biggest issue is it can take months to get a new… Read more »

Pretty short article lacking in details. My understanding of Section 8 is that the house/apartment must meet some standards such as no cracked windows, carpet must be of a minimum quality etc. In addition the landlord needs to get it certified. If it’s not certified how can they force you to accept a Section 8 tenant??????

I had the same concern. Are they going to force prospective apartments to undergo section 8 certification? I don’t think they can do that. This is more of a virtue signal.

I think now though a landlord can’t turn down an unemployed applicant solely because their sources of income are child support or government benefits. I have relatives on SSDI and not all landlords will accept tenants in scenarios like this.

Count on CTU’s demands to veer further from reality until the public finally says no.

Ted joined Dan and Amy to talk about a new law passed by the Democratic supermajority and signed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker that results in brazen election interference, keeping Republicans off ballots; about a referendum that tests the waters for a renewed progressive income tax hike; about how the Parental Notification referendum question was knocked off the ballot; and why laws like that pass so easily.

Chicago needs more champions of literacy like Willie Wilson – Wirepoints

It’s rare to see city leaders in Chicago take an open, unabashed stance on the collapse of literacy. To complain is deemed as too political, too racist or too anti-public schools. So it’s refreshing to see Willie Wilson, a successful businessman and leader of the black community, call for a literacy initiative “with the goal of getting 100% of Black students reading at grade level.”
