New taxes and fees will hit poor Chicagoans the hardest – WGNTV (Chicago)

Homeowners may have escaped a property tax hike, but their pocketbooks will be hit in other ways, with new taxes and fees expected to generate $181 million this year. During the city’s budget season, City Council members warned that everyday Chicagoans were being nickel and dimed to death.

“Everyday “ should be amended to “ working “ Chicagoans . A lot ( too many ) of the locals don’t have to worry about property tax or taxes on anything else that working people pay for without a guaranteed income check, a LINK card or financial assistance from utility companies.
