Opinion: The Republican Party must find its way back home – Chicago Sun-Times*

State Sen. Dan McConchie: "While we should never abandon our values, beliefs or advocacy, we must stop perceiving the opposition party as our enemy. We are all equals, dedicated to participating in the political process that is essential to maintaining our status as a great nation."

http://pointsandfigures.com/2021/01/07/republicans-have-to-fight/. It’s fighting, and fighting the right way. Illinois is not the tip of the spear for the Republican Party. Fight where you can-local meetings (School Board, local city councils) but you will be unable to beat the Machine.

why would anymore listen to a feckless IL GOP pol? They are just as complicit for running the state in the ground.

My assumption is that the people moving out of state are not Democrats so all in all the State will always be under Chicago Democrat control and we can thank a lot of so called Republicans for letting it get this way.

Wait. So it’s the fault of Republicans leaving the sinking ship?

We can thank the Republican politicians for their part in letting it get this way.
I hope that spells it out good enough for you as I recognize the cognitive ability of a Capitolfax troll.

Lolololol. Capitol fix troll.

Your original post literally blames Republicans who have moved out of the state for the problems facing the state. Then it’s trolling when you’re questioned about that?

Whatever gets you to sleep at night.

The Republicans are a failed party of do nothing losers and faux moral crusaders with absolutely zero ideas. The Democrats are a party of terrible ideas and destructive practices with a long trail of devastation. What we need are no more parties, term limits and to turn off the darn television because behind it all the media is keeping this fake left / right paradigm going to the detriment of us all. Left or right makes no difference anynmore, the people who this globe control them both and they have little use for us anymore. If you want to take… Read more »

Its more than television, it’s social media. These nutjobs out there amplify stuff and she/he/it who screams the loudest gets the most followers. IN real life these people would be karen the whackjob in accounts receivable but in Twitter verse they are influencers with followers. This amplification has real life repercussions. Every major newspaper has reporters scouring social media for Karens who are tattling on local business owners who attended the Rally this week. People and businesses are being purged and cancelled as a result of Karen keyboard warriors amplify their hate to millions of people and the SJW reporters… Read more »

I’m all for term limits at State and Federal level – and that goes for the SCOTUS to. No truely free people with a Constitution should be subject to the incoherent ramblings of John Robert’s for more than 10 years.

Just Curious. Is there any Mental Health Assessment required before a politician takes office or while in office? Considering all the power they wield it makes sense that we know if they are capable of holding office and make rational decisions. Many professions require screenings of employees for their mental health status like airline pilots. It would be good to know if a pilot is suicidal before boarding a plane. Are politicians required to take substance abuse tests for drugs and alcohol? Seems like most of our pols are on a power high. When raising taxes is the one and… Read more »

Its a good idea but not a requirement legally. I think the odds of having such a requirement in the current Trump era are even slimmer since anyone scoring poorly and numerous of the supporters would blame it on the test and their political predilections. Voters get the person they choose for better or worse.

Many establishment ‘Republicans’ seem to be unwilling to admit that the Democrats are ruthless, have no problem with breaking law and tearing down institutions and selling out America to get power – they are ‘party first’. Perhaps these Republican deniers should retire- They are not for the fight required win.

Good luck with guys like this helping you.

One would think the GOP couldn’t become more irrelevant. One would be wrong.

McConchie is my state senator. At this point I’d rather have anyone else. Including the socialists.

Who cares what anyone who posts an editorial in the Republican party.

The Republican party’s ‘home’ is the protector of family, natural values, beauty, nature, freedom and the right to make individual decisions.

Unfortunately, in 2020, these are loser values.

Was. I do believe this is more in line with Libertarians now. Republicans disappeared with the moral majority BS in the 90s and then the fake ongoing middle east wars. Trump was proof of that. They are gone forever as a real party, you can not atone for what they did to this country post 911.

Libertarians also want all drugs legal and have a formal position on seatbelts. They’re as crazy and idealistic as the progressives. The Republican party can change, can become what it once was, it can change from within. otherwise, there is no other choice but to concede to the progressives who will throw you into a work camp.
