"Strong public schools and thriving private schools are not enemies. They are the two lungs of a healthy civic body. If one collapses, the entire city — its families, workforce and moral core — will eventually suffocate."
Sorry Paul, but I disagree with you. No institution has done more with less than the Catholic School System. The Catholic schools embarrassed CPS and CTU by opening up during Covid and that is why the scumbag politicans did not renew The Invest In Kids Act, despite 70+% of their constituents wanting it.

Isn’t Illinois Fun?

CPS, like any school district collects property taxes regardless of whether the property is home to any kids, much less kids in private schools. The taxes from homes with no kids or only private school kids are in the public school budget with no expenses against those properties. Imagine what property tax would be necessary to cover all those private school kids if they were forced into the public schools.

Oh yes they are ! In Catholic schools they teach not like the deadbeats at CPS. There’s no walkout by either teachers or students. And the GPA in Catholic schools is better . Put in a Voucher system and let’s see the results

The Chicago Teachers Union sure does not view it this way.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
