Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle says the county needs an additional $1.8 million a month to run the Cook County Health system that has been caring for the thousands of migrants who have landed in Chicago - in addition to the $1.8 million that the county already kicks in. Preckwinkle’s request is separate from Mayor Lori Lightfoot urging the state to help Chicago care for asylum seekers.

I think that Toni Preckwinkle is on her way to becoming the poster child of corruption via political power. Remember when she ran for Cook County President back in 2010 against the assigned-on-his-comatose-daddys-deathbead predecessor Todd Stroger? She was actually saying thing like cut wasteful spending, lower taxes, make government efficient, eliminate pointless programs, etc. I even commented here or on Tribune (when they allowed the dissenting voices of comments) “Maybe here’s a Democrat that I can support”. How about Cook County and the Federal Government follow the law and the criminal illegal immigrants are deported? That will fix the budget gap.
Yeah, I don’t get this either. It seems, at least in some cases, once someone enters this country illegally, he or she becomes a de facto American citizen. No wonder there’s such an influx of illegal immigrants to America.
