Much of the routine trade and investment between China and America is entirely appropriate and in America’s interest. But inserting the Chinese Communist Party into America’s pay-to-play system and its economic development strategy isn’t just crossing a line. It’s a leap into an abyss of stupidity.
Assuming my math is correct 1.5 Billion = 1,500,000,000 and then divided by 1,500 jobs = 1 million per job. No telling what else would be involved but is shows just how bad Illinois has become when private companies have to be paid 1 million to get a private sector job. I should ad Illinois does not have this kind of money so it would be better to change the business climate rather than to make the payoff but by doing this way Pritzker’s headline will be “We saved 1200 jobs and added another 300 jobs” for the presidential run… Read more »
Set to go on line in 2031. So much time lapse, so many variables, so many things can change over that period of time. As we have seen with other endeavors by Jumbo in this area (Belvidere Plant) commitments can be made and then changed later on, but spending $1.5B of Illinois tax dollars to keep this company from leaving and also getting 300 more “projected” jobs…seems expensive. They do not go into the level of pay or the types of jobs these would be, but sure sounds expensive.
Wow – another 300 fulltime jobs created for this $1.5 billion? I will believe it when I see it and meanwhile, I will just sit back and enjoy the increase in my property taxes for absolutely freaking nothing in return.
