As an escapee from Chicago/Cook County I still have acquaintances there and their response to gas tax increases is “Good, we have to fix things”, or “Take a bus” not realizing that in most of the state rural areas dont have public transportation. A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
