Pritzker’s proposed budget shorts pensions by $5.4 billion – Illinois Policy

House Bill 0131 and Senate Bill 2512, which contain the proposed budget for fiscal 2027, would appropriate about $11.6 billion to contributions for the five systems. These payments are required by a 1995 state law known as the “Edgar Ramp.” But while that would satisfy the legal requirement, it would not — by a long shot — meet the fiscally responsible requirements determined by the state’s actuaries.

It would be nice if Pritzker made the actuarial contribution instead of following the Republican Jim Edgar and his horrible pension ramp. Since the voters don’t want to cut spending, does that mean Illinois Policy is onboard with raising taxes to cover this shortfall? Show where you are going to cut 5.4 billion or taxes need to increase. Deal with the pain now or it will be more painful later.

What the heck. It’s only 5 and a half billion! Any other media outlets other than Illinois Policy or Wirepoints focused on this? Of course not. The politicians who do this are disgraceful, but the media is just s much to blame.

JB the Hutt will call this sham budget balanced. The Hutt couldn’t successfully balance a check book but take his word for it.

Illinois elects its dumbest.
