Serious property tax reduction is needed permanently. My taxes are 6 times higher than in Colorado based on value. Over 3% of total value here in Belvidere compared to 0.56% in CO and 0.83% or so in AZ.
How much more for a similar house in CO? Your mortgage would be a lot higher in Colorado and you probably wouldn’t save much in terms of actual property tax dollars. 3 percent of 150k vs. 0.56 percent of 900k? Smaller percentage but no net help to the person paying the bill. I have agreed with you in the past that property taxes are a lousy way to tax people because it’s not based on ones ability to pay. A never ending gas tax as the democrats claim they are the party for the working people. With a lust for a never ending cash grab any tax will never go down or go away.
