For the year, Illinois adult-use cannabis dispensaries sold over $1.5 billion worth of products, an increase of more than 12% from 2021 and 131% from 2020.
If it’s converting illegal cannabis sales to legal, that’s good. If it’s new customers, that’s not so good.
Money is finite. Every dollar spent on cannabis and it’s usurious taxes is a dollar not spent elsewhere or not saved for retirement. Great for government, not so much for anything else.
Agreed. People who never in their lives tried cannabis are now indulging in a product that makes the stuff smoked/imbibed/eaten in college in the 60s-70s-80s look like child’s play.
And you’re further right … government is the big winner in this whole exercise. The tax on LEGAL cannabis is usurious and money spent on weed/weed products doesn’t go anywhere productive for the customers or their family.
Initially I supported legalization, but I’ve had second thoughts and realize it wasn’t such a hot idea in the first place.

So that explains the mid-term results! That and ballot harvesting.

You have to be all Fd up to stay in Illinois.
Cannot find a job, just live in your parent’s basement and get high.
If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.
