Materials from the seminar included presentations addressing demographic disparities and workplace experiences. One slide stated that “Bullying disproportionately affects traditionally underrepresented groups.” Another asserted that “Lawyers of color were bullied more often than white lawyers.”

Minority lawyers do have it tougher than white lawyers in private practice. A lot of lawyers return to their home community to look for jobs in private practice. Maybe that home community is your local town, maybe it’s your geographic area, or maybe its even your social class or religious affiliation, where your family already has several attorneys working for large law firms. And in private practice, there just aren’t that many non-white lawyers.
