Report: Chicago property taxes rise 182% in 30 years – Chicago Agent Magazine

Over the same period, inflation rose less than 91 percent, and average wages climbed about 161 percent. Cook County government itself has kept its property tax levy comparatively low, increasing just 26 percent over the 30‑year period studied. Cook County instead raised its sales tax to cover rising costs.

Huh, that comes out to two percent a year – seems to be an underestimate, doesn’t it?

30 years of theft and still going unabated. And it was going on for years before that. And it will go on for at least another 30 years. So just shut up and take it or leave. Those are your options.

Great! Let the tax rates climb to 600, 700,
800% in Chicago. Keep it away from the
rest of Illinois taxpayers.
The rest of Illinois voters should form a blockade
of voters to keep those idiots from stealing the
money from working people.
