"... (M)ore than 40 Democratic members of the Illinois House and Senate have been meeting weekly to come up with a plan to find some government efficiencies and create new revenue streams to help the state meet its obligations. 'We must lean into transforming our tax system and creating sustainable revenue to protect people and the services we all depend on,' the Affordability and Tax Justice Coalition declared in a statement."
New taxes will be imposed anyway! It’s in the DNA of Illinois Democrats.

For these leftists, “transforming our tax system” is doublespeak for raising taxes.

This just gives them an opportunity to blame Trump for more taxes on Illinois tax payers. They can conjure up a story line that makes it all his fault and avoids the confirmation that the elected officials are thieves and morons.
It also highlights part of the idiocy of our taxing system. Why are the feds collecting taxes to then send to the States? Why are States collecting taxes to then send to towns/cities/villages?

If only that pause was permanent, but the gravy train must roll on. Little Richie’s friends in Illinois NGOs would be lost without their buckets of confiscated taxpayer funds… Read more »

It doesn’t seem to matter what the problem is that Illinois is facing. The answer is always more taxes.

It would be nice if Miller would have pointed out the spending on illegal aliens that is cutting funding for benefits enacted for our Illinois citizenry. Instead all we read is the old rehash of let’s “tax the rich” that as we know ends up being taxes and fees that affect the middle and working classes. With the election coming up it will be interesting to see if this issue stirs up the Illinois electorate for once.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
