Rich Miller: Calling foul on Pappas’ Bears’ megaproject bill analysis – Chicago Sun-Times

"The Indiana deal is obviously bad for their taxpayers, so (Cook County Treasurer Maria) Pappas suggests letting them pay for it if they’re gonna be so gullible. But that seems more like advocacy than an actual study. And it ignores what a huge national spotlight on a very prominent Illinois entity moving across the border could trigger. If the Bears can do it, why not others?"

Miller seems to assume that, absent the Bears complex, nothing would be built on the former Arlington Park Site. But it’s a big vacant parcel, near rail and highways, close to an affluent population. Hard to believe it would remain vacant.

Others have already. Better a bad deal for Indiana than a bad deal for Illinois.
Estimated cost is $855 million I’ll be like the Jane Byrne and any other Illinois project and be off by at least 50% and would cost Illinois taxpayers at least 1,28 BILLION. JB and the boys have already shorted the public pensions 5.4 BILLION working on calling it a balanced budget.
Illinois needs to STOP DIGGING.

Quite an eye opener by Miller when he proclaims “my personal hatred of Indiana.” I wonder what he hates? For example is it the lower taxes, inability of unionized public worker strikes or where would one begin to list the assorted school issue differences? None the less it seems a rather strange comment from someone that parodies the liberal position of “hate has no home here” but then again, talking out of both sides of his mouth is nothing new to the hypocritical Miller.
