Rich Miller: State revenues up but uncertainty looms as fiscal year closes out – Chicago Sun-Times

"State government revenues were up $1.571 billion at the end of the third quarter, according to the most recent report from the legislature’s bipartisan, bicameral Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability. The almost $1.6 billion in new revenues is an increase of 4.2 percent The state budget was crafted last year with an expectation that revenues would rise just 2.3 percent for the full fiscal year, so that’s pretty darned good news."

I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but how is the state of Illinois somehow flush with money at this end of this fiscal year? is it coming from higher taxes? Is it coming from greater wealth in the state, leading to more revenue from taxes? It is fake like everything else that comes out of Springfield? It’s very concerning that news like this just encourages them to spend even more.

That’s great news! Put that news on every gas station as Illinois reaps more unexpected sales tax revenue on your gas purchases. Drive and smile because your money is going to thousands of free range NGOs with big salaries and no results. (Gee, that sounds like CTU. Keep smiling!)
