Session could include police reforms, criminal justice reforms and cannabis legislation – Center Square

House Bill 163 was amended with 611 pages this week. What was initially a measure for prescription drug monitoring turned into a measure full of changes to the state's criminal code and change to how law enforcement is regulated.

Done, hope it’s not to late have many friends and family members that are officers, only if the real truth would come out as to what really goes on in the streets.

I read that the bill removes qualified immunity which is insane. Every other government employee has qualified immunity for actions performed within the scope of their employment and it make no sense to remove that for the government employee most likely to require it. it’s clear what is going to happen because we’ve seen it all before. In this day and age “fetal” is better than aggressive, preventive patrol. There are no rewards for actually doing what cops are supposed to do. Gotta love a boss who says they will back you 100% when you are right. You need a boss to back you when you are 95% right.

East of Eden by John Steinbeck has 608 pages which is way-way better reading than 611 pages of political dribble.

A statewide concern: Illinois’ population decline outpaces neighboring states – Wirepoints on ABC20 Champaign

“We are not in good shape” Wirepoints’ Ted Dabrowski told ABC 20 Champaign during a segment on Illinois’ latest population losses. Illinois was one of just three states to shrink in the 2010-2020 period and has lost another 300,000 people since then. Ted says things need to change. “It’s too expensive to live here, there aren’t enough good jobs and nobody trusts the government anymore. There’s just other places to go where you can be more satisfied.”
