The total number of shootings recorded last month dropped slightly year-over-year, according to CPD, falling from 112 in January 2025 to 101 in January 2026. The overall number of shooting victims remained nearly the same, with 123 people shot last month compared to 126 people shot in January 2025.

It’s amazing how you can adjust numbers when police don’t arrest and charge criminals for crimes, and left judges dismiss charges. Look at what they did with the juvenile criminals who attacked an other and her children. There were no consequences for their actions. And now Pritzker wants to seal criminal records. Dems always for the criminals.
Hmm.. nobody murdered two consecutive days in January.. and seven bodies discovered the next day. Four murdered yesterday. I’m sure glad crime is down.
