The Chicago Alderwoman and Alderman proposing to tear down the Christopher Columbus and Italo Balbo monuments in Chicago are Rossana Rodriguez – Sanchez (33rd Ward) and Carlos Ramirez – Rosa (35th Ward). Both belong to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) political party and ran as Democrats in the 2019 Chicago municipal elections.
