You have to ask yourself if a college degree is worth it? Right now my old alma mater, Western Illinois University charges about $25,000.00 per year for one year of tuition, room and board and various other fees. That is roughly $100,000.00 for a four year degree. Depending on what your job prospects are with that degree, you are screwed!
The kids live in their parents’ basement, smoke pot and play video games. They complain there are not jobs (Illinois has done it best to destroy businesses). So, who needs a college education?
A successful college education is dependent on the course of studies and degree the student gets. There are many degree programs that will never return the investment in the degree. Government should not support such degree programs nor ignore the advantages of trade schools. Many trade programs provide good future earnings without the time and money spent on some degrees.
If you want these things you have to build a basis for them. A good sound education is one key and the other is a good work ethic you learn at home. CPS isn’t providing the education and I wonder what kind of parents are at home
For many years I was told, and naively believed, that getting a college degree would improve one’s station in life (and it often does and it did for me). But the two real reasons the liberal democrat establishment pushes post-secondary is because 1. academia needs government student loans to feed the beast and the college-education complex and 2. academia needs a constant supply souls to indoctrinate with Marxism to ensure a steady stream of angry, childless, and indebted Democrat voters.
