Only an influx of federal pandemic relief funding saved CPS from earlier deficits and “papered over” existing funding problems, CPS CEO Padro Martinez said. He said he’s ready for a fight for state funding but wouldn’t say what the district’s alternatives are if the state doesn’t help. It would appear budget cuts are the next likely answer.

Just keep on raising taxes. Highest priced per student and the Lowest results. This is the Illinois way. As long as government employees get overly compensated for schitt results everything is business as usual.
As always, it’s not a revenue problem, it’s a spending problem. Less than 10% of the black and brown kids read at grade level and they want to spend more? Schools with a few dozen students but a full complement of front office and custodial staff? Give me (and taxpayers) a break.
