“The CTU has gotten its way every time because their tactics work. They strike or walk out and the politicians end up giving the unions what they want” – Ted on FOX32 (Chicago) with Mike Flannery

Less than 10% of CPS enrollment is white! I didn’t know that, surely Chicago is more than 10% white. Yet you have a white managed teachers union stealing the futures of a 90% non-white enrollment. How come any other screwing-over of POC like this causes riots, but when the white woke’s do it its OK? Not a peep from Lori on this, how come she’s not calling Sharkey a racist? She can certainly make that case with numbers like this.

CTU has soiled every teacher in the Chicago region!

Parents put pressure on the politicians because they demand so called “free baby sitting” services.
Nothing new here, same old same old…

I just heard Lightfoot say “we could get to a deal with teachers”. How many times have we heard that? Also why is it every time teachers do an illegal walmout, then Lori thinks its time for a “deal”. Well Lori here’s a good deal for the teachers for you to offer them… tell them “get back to work Monday or you’re fired”. Start there.

The best use of Griffin’s money this year is not on the gubernatorial race, it’s fighting the constitutional amendment for collective bargaining rights. In want to see CTU news clips on repeat 24/7 from June through election time. Make sure no one forgets what can happen.

Looks like the ctu walk out/strike is great news for Republicans nationally. Biden WH is panicing and making behinde the scenes calls to lightweight, jb and probably ctu. And it’s the Biden WH thats sending 350,000 Abbott rapid covid test to cps and not jb

What’s pathetic is this 2 minute piece on fox32 is virtually the only coverage on network tv that the stephen-fetchit voter/taxpayer/parents get about the real power politics behind ctu school shutdown. One would think WTTW/NPR-Chicago Tonight show would report how ctu is in bed w dem machine, but instead they have endless interviews w gates & sharkey, a lot of st writers, and lightweight. What i don’t get is why Lightweight so scarred to tell it like it is, while it’s obvious she & chicago voters have been thrown under the bus by the machine from day one?

No. Public Union leaders do not tolerate intelligent debate. They are elitist authoritarian organizations. The leaders dictate and the rank and file are their mattresses. They will just find someone else to follow the dictate. The bad thing is we pay them to do this with our tax money. And the proposals on the ballot in 2022 are intended to give the union leadership even more power.

Democrats cave to government unions because the unions contribute to their campaigns. IF, they started standing up to the unions, where would the unions go with their money? To the Republicans?

Theoretically at least I’d like to see public-funded campaigns. That’s a huge financial burden if it applied to every public office imagined. So, maybe it could be restricted to the politicians’ concept of major political office-holder elections only. Maybe that would be worth public discussion. The upside is obvious in that the people running for such offices wouldn’t need to cater to interest groups by the size of their political donations nearly so much.

In the 80’s, a federal judge ordered the levy of taxes to raise billions for the troubled Kansas City Missouri school system. Overnight, the system became the wealthiest in the nation. Massive capital spending, 40 percent compensation increases, low student to teacher ratios, and so on. The program was a massive failure. Schools became even more segregated, test scores declined and achievement gaps did not improve. The results were disappointing to say the least. One factor- and by no means the only one – in the failure was that the system was such a large employer in the community that… Read more »

I can tolerate everything you stated above, which is all true and correct. What I cannot tolerate is that they are so extreme, so militant, and refuse to compromise. They go nuclear for every little issue. It’s never good enough for them. They think they run the school system when they are just the employees.

Jesse, you are a disgrace to the memory of Karen Lewis. You and far left Elitist pukes like you are pushing working people Out of the city and the Democratic party. You “care” so much about the students that you’re at home. Such a joke. Children are at low risk with Covid, and triple vexed adults are at low risk as well. Why not support health compromised students and staff instead of making all stay home? You and Lightfoot deserve each other. Neither of you care about the kids or the working people of the city. You elitist, self serving… Read more »

I can agree with your sentiment, but they have gotten that sense of hubris for an obvious reason; they have been allowed to hold sway in negotiations numerous times over multiple decades. Why change? Politicians and the public at large have to give them the signal of an desired impending drastic change or set of changes unless ….., then should that not happen do it! All hell will break loose with the CTU, many its members personally and the parents of school age children. That will have to be part of the espected pain in changing the CPS ship’s course.

Willowglen, you are exactly right about the Kansas City lesson that massive spending got no results. It was written about at the time but today we’re back to the same faulty assumption that more money gets better educational outcomes.

I believe John Stossel’s “Stupid in America has a show on that. The bureaucracy grew by leaps and bounds while enrollment went down. This is not just the Chicago school system.
