The governor’s continued Covid Emergency Declarations are about two things: money and power – Wirepoints on The Steve Cochran Show

President Biden said the pandemic is essentially over, but Governor Pritzker issued his 34th Covid Disaster Proclamation. Governor: 1.What are you doing to recover the money stolen from Illinois taxpayers by fraudulent unemployment claimants who do not work for State of Illinois? 2. What are you doing to recover the money stolen from Illinois taxpayers by fraudulent unemployment claimants who DO work for State of Illinois? Like Jenny Thornley, and others who may have been similarly protected from discovery/consequences by The Illinois System? 3. What are you doing to change the systems which enabled such theft of taxpayer funds on such a grand scale, to prevent future felony theft of taxpayer funds? 4. Why are you actively… Read more »

Year after year Illinois residents complain, yet most remain in Illinois. That’s the core problem.

Walked out of a vision appointment yesterday as they were requiring masks, claimed that Pritzker said so. What legal authority does Illinois gov’t have to require ANY place to require masking?

When parents sued Pritzker/IDPH/ISBE over masking the kids, it turned out they didn’t have the authority to do so. What makes the remaining business (e.g. healthcare) any different from schools?

It is long past time to taunt, malign, and generally troll the Speaker of the State Assembly and President of the State Senate for abdicating. Who knew the only we needed to do to end Mike Madigans iron grip on power is to have a pandemic. Republicans should submit a bill dissolving the state legislature because they don’t do anything, nor do they want to.

It’s not just that the executive has too much power. Just as much responsibility falls on the weak-kneed, rubber-stamp legislature (Federal level too). As long as they continue to abdicate their sworn duties, tyrants will tyrant.

He loves throwing his weight around with unlimited emergency powers via mandates or disaster proclamations.

Newton’s First Law of Motion states that an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless an external force acts upon it. Some day when taxpayers band together WE can be the “External Force” that acts upon the madness going on in this state until then we are at their mercy unless we move.

Ted, is the seaming never ending Covid Disaster Proclamation fed funds for Medicaid, Food stamps, etc same source of $ and limits on what it can be spent on as all the other fed covid aid to states? Or is it FEMA funds? Or when JB declare an emergency for immigrants ,for example, what is the source for those funds? Who at fed approves these funds? This could make for a good WP/ reader education piece.

I’m confused, it seems like the medicaid fed covid-19 $funding$ gravy train to states ends in October from HFS, just a month away? And then I guess, Illinois and other states hopes the feds renews the funding, but this would seem like a gigantic story nationally and I see no new coverage? Especially with election just a month and a half away and with crushing inflation remaining? What happens at state level to all those who signed up for medicaid backed by covid-19 fed funding once the funding runs out, who’s going to pay?

A statewide concern: Illinois’ population decline outpaces neighboring states – Wirepoints on ABC20 Champaign

“We are not in good shape” Wirepoints’ Ted Dabrowski told ABC 20 Champaign during a segment on Illinois’ latest population losses. Illinois was one of just three states to shrink in the 2010-2020 period and has lost another 300,000 people since then. Ted says things need to change. “It’s too expensive to live here, there aren’t enough good jobs and nobody trusts the government anymore. There’s just other places to go where you can be more satisfied.”
