Mark joined Annie Frey Show to talk about Chicago’s election results. Mark worries that Johnson’s election spells trouble for the city because he has no real solutions to Chicago’s crises of failing schools, growing crime, pension debts, and budget problems.

If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.
Things will be a mess. He cannot balance a check book.
BJ is a CTU socialist sheeple!!
‘Disaster in the making’: Incoming Chicago mayor’s solution to crime as troubling as critics feared (bizpacreview.com)
Let the place burn. It’s the only way to possibly rebuild it. But that won’t happen until the city becomes a place no good people would ever visit or live. Then the remaining people will turn on each other and we might start getting somewhere.
I heard this morning that Chiraq is leading the running for the Democrat National Convention. That would be outstanding. We’ll start taking wagers on how many delegates are shot and how many killed.
Well spoken, Mark. Chicago has really turned to the left. No desire to spend any $ downtown, used to be a big deal to go downtown.
I think a huge chunk of the Johnson turnout just comes down to plain old “where’s mine/ what’s in it for me” greed by city workers. Why in the world, if your a city worker or family member (other than cop or fire) would you NOT be voting for ctu/brandon 100%? Your guaranteed to make big $$$!! These folks aren’t marxist/ socialist or even educated enough to know what that means. Or care if city goes to hell in a hand bag. They’re just plain old greedy….what do all those city worker and family members votes #s come to? +100,000?
Good points. Perhaps not only greedy. They dangle carrots and shiny objects in front of those who may have previously been led to believe that they are not ‘good enough’.
Where exactly is your proof for such an ASININE statement this election broke down along RACIAL lines the so called progressives but really MARXIST North Shore White votes put Johnson over the top if anyones saying wheres mine is the Black community looking for REPARATIONS
Yes, blacks and marxists voted together to give BJ the win.

Look at all that Yellow on the South and West Sides.
CPS being on Spring Break helped as well because it allowed ballot harvesting by CTU members, many of whom are admittedly and proudly marxist, thus proving you don’t have to be educated to be marxist. In case anyone hasn’t seen Illinois Policy’s video about CTU, I highly recommend it: https://youtu.be/YbQ81mGucvs
The guys from Wirepoints do their best to try and improve the Chitty. But there is no hope, and it only gets worse by the minute.
Mark starts speaking after the 2 minutes and the discussion lasts 11 minutes. You can hear the unusual amount of frustration at the election result.
He basically said that things need to get a lot worse before they will get better. He did not recommend leaving (or staying), since he wasn’t asked. I kind of wish he had been asked and clearly stated, “yes, it’s time to get out.”
My opinion, often written here, is that all other things being equal it would be wise to leave. For many people, however, all things are not equal and it would be very difficult or even impossible to leave.
In my passing familiarity with the Old Testament, the chosen people often outsiders in foreign lands. They were constantly surrounded by mortal enemies, heathens, while living in occupied lands, battling Moloch worshipers, and others, yet they clung to their beliefs, and lived the ways of their ancestors. They were always tempted into worshiping other gods, marrying the natives, and feared their children going astray. They lived in constant fears of pograms and were actively discriminated against and at any moment expelled from homes. In some of the less insidious ways, that’s how we Republicans are in IL. We now live… Read more »
Another example are the early Christians. They lived in a Pagan world, and yet they rejected that, and followed the worlds of Christ. That mean, essentially, rejecting the entire world around them: not celebrating the Pagan holidays, not participating in local government, secretly meeting and praying underground. They had to live completely apart from and outside of the Pagan world of the Romans. It was not easy, and many of them were martyred for their beliefs. While conservatives are not being martyred by the state (yet, I might add), we conservatives in IL do outside the mainstream, not participating in… Read more »
Scoff, Chortle!
Mark, I think as things get worse, people don’t always raise their thresholds of pain. In other words, some of the people who had no intention of moving are now considering moving, and some who considered moving will now be moving.
I’m curious what would make it impossible to leave. Staying for a job is zero sum. Staying for kids is zero sum. Illinois can and will take everything from those who choose to stay. Their money their children their rights. Staying working owning raising kids in Illinois is all zero sum.
If you are in your late 60’s or 70’s and live near grandchildren there are huge incentives to stay. For people of this age time with the grandchildren is precious. Likewise many high income earners have small businesses – lawyers, doctors and CPA’s as well as entrepreneurs established in a localized market. They indeed feel the pain but find it very difficult to relocate . The ones who have been at it a while often own their homes outright and have limited or no debt can hunker down and endure the pain. The issue is with their offspring – who… Read more »
Are their offspring suffering? Half of all students leave the state as is now. Sounds like a great future for them. In fact, it gives the grandparents more of a reason to finally leave and join their children and grandchildren in a red state.
Professional licenses, established businesses, close family ties, local investments like rentals, car washes, restaurants, etc. and kids of school age. I’ve known three families that tried to move in the past several years and returned to IL because jobs or housing or schools. I have to rip my kid away from all his friends because the Fat Man Bad? “Sorry Johnny, you have to lose all of your friends and make new ones because JB FAT MAN is ruining the state”. Sure that will go over well. Like I constantly say, we are in a huge housing bubble right now.… Read more »

LOL, planning ..
My niece and three boys left to Ohio. They all made new friends right away. They play basketball in the driveway just like lots of kids do. They are so happy to have left.
