Ted joined Dan Proft and Amy Jacobson to talk about how Gov. Pritzker and other leaders have no plan for how Illinois is going to move to having 50% of its electricity production coming from renewable sources by 2040 and 100% from clean energy sources by 2050. Illinois is going too fast in terms of dependency on renewables – leading, in part, to sky-high gas prices and the potential for brownouts this summer.

Maybe there will be a pipeline attached to Pritzkers large posterior and that gas will power half the state? He is after all a large gas bag blowhard.
Green in my pocket is all they understand
Green Sustainable Financial institutions are everywhere and are capitalizing and monetizing these assets. Some of the deals I have seen have zero realistic expectations and they look like projects poised to fail. Solar and wind simply cannot keep up with demand in major cities with the highest level of demand. They are supplementary to existing power plant sources. Coal and nuclear can WAY out produce these other methods. Once you add millions of people, and big demand like during a winter storm in Texas or now with the 98 degree heat wave in Chicago, demand goes sky high. These greenies… Read more »
The plan is like building an airplane while its already airborne.
To see where Pritzger’s energy policy is going to take us, the country of Australia (it’s winter there) is currently without electricity due to a “GREEN-OUT!” They have plenty of coal which they can’t use but if you read the story the current problem is a Rubik’s cube of environmentalists rules and regulations that shut down their grid on a technicality!!!! And as for their coal reserves, they sell their extra coal to China, whose power plants magically don’t cause global warming.

India and China installed 700 Mw of coal fired generating capacity last year alone.
IL sits on an ocean of coal that is near the surface. We should have some of the lowest electric costs in the world.
That’s because we, the bad people of the United States, are responsible for all the air pollution and climate change, global warming, global cooling, killing polar bears and coral reefs issues. China and India are saving the planet, we just dont get it.
Democrats have learned from Al Gore’s movie that said we would all be doomed in ten years if we did not stop using fossil fuels. Therefore they set their goals way out in the future so they don’t have to do anything, yet can appear that they are.
We should stop listening to “fossil fools”

GeorgiaIllinoisWhat, Pritzker had no answer as to how he was going to defy the laws of physics and thermodynamics? Eventually a politicians narcissism and authority will reach an impediment they can’t cross.
Disagree – the ‘Plan’ is the same as Joe Biden’s which is attack fossil fuels irregardless of the economic consequences. This is what Obama wants.
“We FOIA’ed Gov. Pritzker for his plan on how he’s going to convert to 100% green energy by 2050. He couldn’t send us anything.” Well, of course not. Geez, guys. He’s awfully busy in New Hampshire, touting himself as a 2024 Presidential contender. Illinois has already failed at so many things that Joe’s still trying to figure out how to wreck in the rest of the country – JB’s the perfect pick for the national DNC. JB’s already proved that he can get ‘er done. Sarcasm aside, sad thing is, bad has JB has proved himself to be, he would… Read more »
Part of “plan” seems to be big State and federal subsidies for solar farm projects.
McHenry County farms are being bombarded with lease deal proposals.
One interesting aspect of crop-farmland converting to solar-farmland is that property taxes on the property skyrocket.
This would be an example reversing Illinois typical tax-payment-exportation whereby public benefits entitlements are paid locally but taxed nationally.
