Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
How long would it take an electric truck to take a load from Chicago to Phoenix? To Nashville? How many stops? How long per stop? Ease of finding recharging stations? How economically viable?
Don’t ask questions like that or democrats will call you a racist
Yes ban cheaper forms of transportation so only the chosen few can scoot about without having to share the fossil fuel taxed roads that were built and after all a chosen few like Rivan should be funneled more public money to achieve these goals.
Rivian,! They sound like the Bears. How about a rigged game? A H should run fast. The McCaskeys will provide a guarantee a specific percentage of revenue for bond funds. Except 100% of nothing is still nothing!
Why not ban all fossil fuels at noon tomorrow?
Don’t give them any ideas
If the government would fund the emerging “cold fusion” technological break through, like they propose to fund Africa ($55B), then “maybe” by 2050 EV’s would be viable…
However, they would most likely need to triple the investment into our electrical grid & infrastructure as well…
Or we could just say fossil fuels “identify” as cold fusion & hence are climate friendly…
Fusion is based on the generally accepted principles of crypto.
When the true total energy used to create a smaller bit of fusion makes the whole thing energy negative but thats no big deal. The corn lobby creates a fuel negative product every day to be used as a gasoline substitute.
The USA energy situation is a total mess that will no doubt ever recover when it is controlled by misrepresentation and idealistic goals and Illinois is one of the leaders down the silly path.
You can hypnotize the general public with fusion. Just say the magic word: Free.
It’ll be like the Renaissance Fair every day as we return to the middle ages!
Without Democrat(Communist) politicians outlawing gas powered engines, the owners of electric car and truck manufacturing KNOW they would fail! Nobody wants your piece of garbage!
And everyone should avoid any Rivian product until they apologize for pushing this garbage line of thinking.
While we have shuttered our coal plants China is doing the opposite. So is India but EV’s will save the planet.

Rent seekers not even hiding that they’re rent seekers.
The backbone of the US economy is diesel trucks that keep cargo moving — without them the US would have starved to death during the pandemic. Electric trucks are nowhere near ready to replace diesel.
This is one of the dumbest ideas I have read in a long time, and there has been plenty to choose from.
