U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin warns of deep divisions in farewell address to Illinois lawmakers – Capitol News IL

“Abraham Lincoln, in the House Divided speech that he gave here in Springfield, gave a grim warning that the divisions in America over the issue slavery could destroy our nation,” Durbin, 81, said, from the dais of the Illinois House chamber. “We see similar divisions today. The challenge we face in the days ahead could be just as serious."

The Turdbin was elected as a pro-life moderate and turned to supporting baby killing and every other leftist bad idea put before him. His time in office was wasted creating the divide he now complains about.

Illinois elects its dumbest. The Turdbin has been out front among them.

How did he turn from a pro life moderate to a woke left winger? He could have been a moderating influence in today’s Democratic Party, like Fetterman. Instead, he showed a lack of courage in his convictions and sold out to the radicals. How does he justify that to himself?

Democrat primary voters control elections. Democrat politicians must to cater to the furthest left in their party to stay in power. So they end up supporting every far-far-far left idea. As for Fetterman, don’t fall for that guy’s shtick. He votes with Democrat Party over 90% of the time. He gives sounds bites here and there that make it seem like he is an old school common sense Democrat but he is not. He is a politician in a swing state that Trump won in 2016 & 2024. He does a performative vote with Republicans where it doesn’t matter (like… Read more »

Durbin warning about deep divisions? The very deep divisions he helped create? That is what one calls irony.

Thank goodness he’s leaving. But his Democratic replacement is worse than him. Vote red!

Worth pointing out is that the election you are referring to can not be affected by Illinois gerrymandering. Let’s see if the Republicans get out the vote or instead just go with the usual flow.

Excellent point RB. So many people cry about gerrymandering but the ILGOP can’t even win in statewide elections where gerrymandering is irrelevant.

“We see similar divisions today.”? Hmm.. Guess who said this back on June 14, 2005.
“If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags or some mad regime — Pol Pot or others — that had no concern for human beings,”?
That’s right, the hypocrite for whom this article is all about. :-/

In referring to the Freedom caucus, that boycotted the event, Pritzker’ campaign commented that it was “disrespectful and an embarrassment to our state” yet Democratic Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton, a candidate backed by Pritzker for Durban’s seat, choose not to attend as well. It would have been nice if we had a feeling of why she boycotted the event and heaven forbid there is an element of racism on her part. Don Tracy, her white male opponent for Durban’s seat, attended the event why didn’t she considering they are both of the Democrat party? It certainly makes one wonder not… Read more »
