Union tells Chicago teachers to prepare for picket lines this week – Chalkbeat Chicago

The move comes as the clock is winding down on two extra days of negotiations between the school district and union, with few signs of an agreement in sight. “Our efforts at the bargaining table will be reinforced by the unity you’re showing through actions,” the email said.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” Attributed to Joseph Goebbels and endorsed by the statements and actions of CTU and its lackeys.… Read more »

School vouchers for all. Throughout this Wuhan Virus sham the private schools have been functioning just fine. Bust the public sector teachers unions or allow school vouchers and let the free market make a choice.

Give parents school choice and problem solved. Make schools compete on the basis of product quality and allure like everybody in the “free market.” No matter how much money we pour into CTU, the results will be much less than satisfactory. Many teachers are true heroes, but CPS is just a huge pot of never ending money that attracts grifters drunk on their own power to extort more and more from their struggling constituents.

Don’t like bullies eating your lunch? Then organize, arise and vote the bullies out. Better: recall them. With Biden in the White House they are more emboldened than ever. With those who resist verbally being canceled and humiliated, the prospect for fixing things — ever — grows more remote. Parents and students and taxpayers and citizens have rights. The politicians don’t intend to help you. “Use it or lose it.” Start by going to their picket lines with placards and your kids. March in the opposite direction and call them out. Your opponents are primarily wimps in pussy hats (and… Read more »

Oh boy, China is laughing their asses off when they read these stories. Here you have three leftist groups the CTU, the CPS and Chicago city hall “negotiating” if and how they will reopen their child indoctrination camps. It’s kind of entertaining to watch when leftists have a train wreck like this. To see city hall and CPS get pounded with their own woke ammunition, love of unions, inability to fire people, religious faith in government, etc. And be put in a position where CPS might have to actually drop their wokeness and grow some conservative b@ll$ to put this… Read more »

This is their shot across the bow. Lets see how LL responds but I suspect it will involve further delaying the school reopening date. Lori appeases these hostile Union demands as if she were Neville Chamberlain.

There is an Illinois Compulsory Attendance Law where children between the ages of 6 to 17 must attend school and meet certain requirements to graduate.
What is a parent to do when teachers are planning to strike? Most parents cannot afford private schools or have the ability to home school. What can they do?
Taxpayer money should be diverted to parents for a school of their choice in the case of a teachers strike..
Who is exactly breaking the attendance law? Is it the parents fault if teachers strike?
