State Rep. David Welter, R-Morris, said the bill barely passed in the final hours of a lameduck session. “I imagine there was some arm twisting on the other side to get that bill to that 60 votes, so by no means was this a mandate. They pulled out all the tricks and stops to get this thing passed.”
JB seems to be waivering. He sees that now everyone knows McCann was a stooge to draw votes from Rauner, and that mandate he has isn’t quite what he thought it would be. I firmly believe that IL isn’t as Blue as everyone says it is. It’s been gerrymandered into a blue state over the years, but D’s have only a slim majority in the state which they’ve gerrymandered into a supermajority.
If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.
