Wall Street Journal Citing Wirepoints: Why Johnny Can’t Read Anything Other Than Pronouns*

Citing Wirepoints research, Jason Riley makes the case that the sensible path forward in Chicago would be to change or close the schools that are underperforming, but Mayor Brandon Johnson and his fellow progressives are far more interested in targeting the selective-enrollment school model. See Riley’s column here.

Statistics frequently offered here always show enrollment down and employees (like property tax) always growing. The CPS has collapsed offering nothing for anyone except the teachers.

There’s nothing wrong with the CPS that a few hundred nuns couldn’t fix.

The law suggests that CPS will have nun of that.

How so Joe? What would the nuns actually do? You think these kids will magically learn if a nun hits them with a ruler? Just keep yelling at clouds OldJoe. I’m sure that will solve things.

When one stops believing in God, one doesn’t stop believing, one starts believing in anything.

I’ve never heard that presumably famous saying. Maybe it applied to somebody’s acquaintance named Juan, instead. Curious minds want to know.

“When men choose not to believe in God, they do not thereafter believe in nothing, they then become capable of believing in anything.”

It is a quote from GK Chesterton, an English writer in the 20th century.

Curious minds have now been informed. Nothing to do with anyone named Juan.

This is an easy one. It is because teachers only care about money, benefits and large pensions at a young age. They show up the least number of days they have to. The are burning rubber to get away from the schools. Does not seem like anyone in the education system cares about education. This has been going on for decades and has only gotten worse. The CTU has destroyed the CPS. Stacey Gates would never send her children to a public school.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
