We are very proud to announce that Matt Rosenberg has joined Wirepoints as senior editor. His research and columns will appear regularly here, starting today.
With more than three decades in public policy, advocacy, journalism, and communications, Matt is an exceptionally talented researcher and writer. His work has appeared in Imprimis, City Journal, The Weekly Standard, American Greatness, New English Review, National Review Online, Jewish World Review, the Chicago Tribune, Denver Post, Seattle Times, The Oregonian and many others.
Matt lived in Chicago for 30 years and returned to live there again in 2020 to do field work for his recent book, “What Next, Chicago? Notes Of A Pissed-Off Native Son.”
Matt writes with facts and data, which we try to make our hallmark at Wirepoints, and has the additional skill of providing a very human perspective. You can see that in his book that includes both thorough research and what he learned over many days walking the streets to meet Chicagoans living in the toughest neighborhoods.
Many of you may remember Matt’s father, Milt Rosenberg, a University of Chicago professor who hosted WGN’s acclaimed “Extension 720” show for almost 40 years.
Matt was married to his wife Patricia in Chicago in 1987 by a Cook County Divorce Court judge, who said after the ceremony, “I don’t want to see you again.” So far, so good. They have two adult children, and are avid hikers and walkers.
Special thanks to our contributors who made this expansion possible, with more to come.
nice edition (see what I did there)
Welcome to you Matt! Look forward to reading your material.
Love to see more insightful analysis and parsing of the data. He’s a hero we don’t deserve, but will get regardless. 🙂
Excellent news! Great addition to the team!
We know Matt’s brilliance and lack of fear at explaining the truths. Even when it hurts. And last I checked, the unvarnished truth did not have political affiliation. ‘Shellac’d’ truth? Might be a different story! Signed up, ready to read and react. Congrats, Matt!
Thank you, Jay! So glad to be aboard, here!
It feels like we are entering a new Renaissance of American Journalism.
The framework for independent small news organizations are building, and the next step is to improve the funding. As Facebook decimated small corporations with increased Ad costs, I believe there is an avenue to create advertising for the new defenders of the fourth estate.
Welcome, Matt! We look forward to your commentary.
Congrats Matt and congrats Wirepoints! Sounds like a great move for everyone.
Welcome Mr. Rosenburg. Looking forward to your articles. There have been many solutions proposed here for Illinois’ woes but implementing them seems elusive. I personally would like to see interviews with politicians who can introduce bills and have the power to do something in Springfield if that even possible. Some sort of town hall meeting on occasion with politicians here at Wirepoints at a certain time for about 30-60 minutes. Would love to see the questions and answers. Thanks and again Welcome!
Read his Chicago book, heard podcasts with Kass, and religiously listened to his father, Milt, on WGN. Great acquisition, keep him busy.
Welcome Matt! Looking forward to seeing your perspective.
