Mark joined Dan and Amy to talk about just how much the illegal immigration crisis is costing Chicagoans and Illinoisans, why it’s so hard for the public to realize how big the state and the country’s spending problem is, why Illinoisans have so little confidence in the state’s election security, and more.

Yes there are many places that are far superior to Illinois. Residents of Illinois are political serfs and tax mules. When you finally drive out of the state for good look at how big your smile is in the rear view mirror.

You all are completely wrong on this! The public knows exactly what’s going on. The problems facing the right are in organization, leadership, communication, and morale. Every account and news article in ‘right wing’ legacy media is presented from the losing position of self against an omnipotent force, and it’s my opinion that most media is designed to foment disorganization and demoralization. I’ve spent years studying communication. Challenge me on this! LOL Proft is one of the most demoralizing personalities in Illinois politics, and has somehow maneuvered himself to the center of it all. His personality is overwhelmingly negative. I understand the value in raising awareness, but it must be done correctly. I’m well educated in public relations and marketing. Tobacco use is on the rise again domestically. I wouldn’t be surprised if 20% of Venezuelean immigrants smoked cigarettes. I don’t have the time to do research on tobacco company market capitalization, and, to be honest, it’s somewhat off topic.… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
