And you can cross state lines and get another pension or go back to work doing a similar job and get a salary and pension in Illinois. In Wisconsin if you get a public pension and go back to work you must suspend the pension unless you are grandfathered in then you can do both.

That’s not entirely true Freddy. They can work in a non Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) job and still receive their pension. Even with the changes in 2013, they can’t prevent you from earning money outside of WRS nor do they force you to suspend your pension. You can also return to a job that’s part of the WRS if you have had at least a 75 day break since your termination date to ensure a bona-fide separation from your last job and you don’t work more than 2/3 full time. True-If you work in the same field say a school super retire and get a pension and you want to work as a super in another district as another super or assistant super or anything similar you must suspend your pension in Wisconsin but not in Illinois. In addition to a corrupt mayor Dolton has a population of around 22.000. The school, superintendent makes almost $500,000.00 a year? President Trump has been investigated for using Margaret O’Malleys red crayon while,in 3rd grade without her permission yet the thievery in a place like Dolton goes unchecked.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
