Illinois has a 7.1% disparity between white college-educated workers and Black college-educated workers. This gap is more than double the national average of 3.1% and higher than the percentage of the bordering states. “It is interesting though that the gap widened more in Illinois than in border states and the rest of the country,” the report’s author said. “So we have a way worse problem here than in other states.”
