Under changes Judge Charles Beach has ordered for the county’s electronic monitoring program, authorities will be alerted when someone on electronic monitoring is committing a major violation. They include triggering a “major violation” after three hours, rather than the previous 48 hours. Those alerts will then go before the judge handling that violator’s case on a 24/7 basis starting Feb. 7, whereas before those cases only went before judges on weekdays.

That confidence comes despite a bitter budget fight at Chicago Public Schools, federal education cuts and two recent government probes into the union’s financial records. Polling has also shown that CTU’s popularity across the city has declined. During last year’s school board elections, voters rejected several union-backed candidates.

“Excluding Moody (Bible Institute of Chicago) from a public student-teaching program solely because of its religious beliefs violates the First Amendment and serves no one — especially students and families who need more well-prepared teachers,” Jeremiah Galus, an attorney with Alliance Defending Freedom, said.

“No one is a better role model of coming from hardscrabble stock, making his way in life without powerful and rich supporters and becoming a justice on the nation’s highest court, than Clarence Thomas. And yet, here is this cretinous mere city mayor biting at Thomas’ heels like the race-baiting, yapping, chihuahua that he is.”

John Saletta, the deputy Republican committeeman for Wheeling Township, said the vandalism marked the second time in two months that the office has been targeted.

“We believe in Restorative Justice Community Courtss; we want them to be successful,” said Yvette Loizon, chief of policy and external affairs for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. “We recognized that by not putting gun cases in the RJCCs, we were restricting their workload significantly.”

Cook County Circuit Judge James R. Brown was one of seven retired judges brought back to the bench last month and assigned to traffic court to address an apparent shortage of judges in Cook County. In September, before his reinstatement, Brown authored a guest column for John Kass News, in which he entertained the idea that the 2020 election was stolen, denounced the murders of U.S. citizens by “illegal aliens” and criticized “Soros-funded” progressive prosecutors.

Social media exploded with commentators calling the teacher a “f****** piece of s***.” A flyer demanded termination because any expression of support for ICE is “inappropriate and unsuitable for an educator.” The flyer insisted that “keeping this teacher will disrupt the emotional welfare and therefore, the education of our students.”

“This moment calls for boldness — not some sort of pragmatic pragmatism to a tyrant. In fact, that’s how we got in this mess in the first place. It’s because we were too tepid,” Johnson told reporters. “We’ve got to challenge these corporations and the rich to pay their fair share in taxes. The next step and level … has to be real, organized resistance, as what we saw organized and prepared in the Civil Rights Movement. We cannot just simply leave it to protests that just react to the egregious and harmful and deadly actions coming from the Trump
