The problem is that just because people flee or are replaced by lower (or non) earning residents doesn’t mean the state’s obligations are decreased. The burden just gets spread out on those who remain. Broader statewide public pension debt across all 677 government plans (state and local) is estimated at over $218 billion in unfunded liabilities, per the Illinois Department of Insurance’s 2025 biennial report, with total liabilities of $493 billion and an average funding ratio of 49%.
Illinois continues to lose residents even with all the illegals. Wow. And you know the illegals were counted in the census because the paranoid Dems don’t want to lose anymore electoral votes. The license plates should be changed to the “Diminished Land of Lincoln.”
You know things are bad when the illegals that want to work leave IL.
Meanwhile, the ever-mendacious JB the Hutt desperately claims that Illinois population went up. The population of illegal immigrants seeking taxpayer freebies certainly has. The productive continue to leave.
