Wirepoints featured in BBC report on political refugees moving between Illinois and Florida

Two bright, young reporters from London visited us recently to prepare this podcast on a subject we’ve been covering closely: interstate political migration – Americans moving to states that better fit their political views. The Great Re-sort, it’s called.

After several days in Florida interviewing folks there and in Illinois, the BBC sat down with Wirepoints to complete their report.

Wirepoints added some important perspective on the impact political migration has on Illinois. While some Americans may move to Illinois for its progressive policies, far more end up leaving every year due to Illinois’ poor economic competitiveness. As the BBC reporters noted: “Illinois has lost a net 67,000 people to out-migration every year for the last 20 years – making it the 2nd-fastest shrinking state in America.”

Props to Lucy Proctor and Ellie House of the BBC for their balance. There are indeed people moving both ways in America’s political rearrangement, which is certain to have enormous consequences for the nation.

Listen to their entire podcast here.

I’ve coined a new term to better describe this phenomenon; “Domestic Economic Refugees.”

This reminds me a bit of how 3 1/2 million eastern Germans between 1945 and 1961 (when the Berlin Wall was built) in the communist “German Democratic Republic” moved to the freedom and opportunity of West Germany… this refugee movement was called “voting with their feet… WIKI: “The 3.5 million East Germans that had left by 1961 totaled approximately 20% of the entire East German population. The emigrants tended to be young and well educated, leading to the brain drain feared by officials in East Germany. The loss was disproportionately heavy among professionals—engineers, technicians, physicians, teachers, lawyers and skilled workers…”

No, it’s a slow moving PsyOp strategy of defeatism, demoralization, isolation and containment. It’s exceptionally sinister. This website is filled with trolls pushing “move out” relentlessly to satisfy their directive. Running away from problems doesn’t solve anything.

Dave, running away does solve some problems. It solved my problem. Maybe you would feel better about it if you consider it a strategic retreat.

There’s nothing strategic about moving out when a substantial and competent majority is strongly against everything going on here.

Why revisit and comment on the same issues if you’ve already given up and ran away? Nobody in the real world behaves like this. The same goes for all of the other proud expats here that often comment. Participation in out of state political affairs is a fraction of a percent, and this inconvenient statistic you can’t escape also strongly supports my conclusion.

Actually does solve a lot of problems, because we live in the United States, with vastly different governments between States.

Illinois has every natural geographical advantage in the world, which we have blown because our government is both thoroughly corrupt and incompetent.

Actually, it is more than that. The violence isn’t keeping people in the city of Chicago. Once you decide to leave, why go to the suburbs?

Why not send an envoy to the jolly ol’ UK? Wirepoints could do a special on knife crime trends and why politicians are still dragging their feet with a ban on all pointy objects. Knife crime is going up and up! Something needs to be done. LOL

Here’s what U.K. thinks about free speech. This guy is going to jail for uploading videos.

Why on earth would I want to invest in fake news? Every minute I spend wasting time on some dumb BBC article is time wasted I could employ fighting back. As expected, they’re creating false equivalency, amplifying contention, distracting from real social problems, etc. Even worse, you’re propagating their garbage. Morale and cohesion will get us out of this mess and that’s what I’m focusing on. BBC is one of the worst propaganda organizations in the world. How can you take anything from them seriously when even their nature shows are faked! The whole purpose of their nature shows is… Read more »

Please don’t refer to these illegal immigrants as political refugees. That will only give them undeserved asylum status when in fact they are economic refugees seeking a handout from the taxpayers. Haitians seeking asylum were sent packing, as should all that won’t go through the process to become legal residents. Not very equitable to pick and choose.

The British reporters referred to illegal immigrants as political refugees. So much of England is woke, so I’m not surprised by their use of such a tempered reference as “political refugees.” Yes, so many of them are economic refugees, encouraged by a border policy that should be punished by the impeachments of Mayorka, Harris and Biden. An objective fourth estate would expose the ugly truths of human and drug trafficking, ruinous economic impact of south Texas towns and citizens, and the very real threat of terrorism by “getaways.” Instead, those lapdogs sit quietly while the nation is abused for the… Read more »

The BBC podcast uses “political refugees” to describe people moving between Florida and Illinois because they find the politics in either state unacceptable. They are all apparently legal US residents who have the right to live in any US State.

Ppf isn’t an idiot. He is a greedy shill that only thinks of himself, craps on the constitutional rights of others, and brags about how the citizens of the state must support him regardless of ability to pay. Yes, I have receipts.

No he is an idiot who shouts circular logic at anyone who disagrees with him: Gerrrymandering the 40% of Republican statewide voters? DEMOCRACY IN ACTION/WILL OF THE VOTERS Illegal under the table campaign contributions totaling millions of dollars to obviously biased liberal supreme court candidates? DEMOCRACY IN ACTION/WILL OF THE VOTERS Black communities that vote 95-5 Democrat every election with the highest turnout in the city? DEMOCRACY IN ACTION/WILL OF THE VOTERS Credible allegations of fraud in local races? There are occasions where the article is behind a paywall and cannot be read so headlines are all we have to go by. It gets tiring to be called ignorant most of the time. Maybe being a product of the educational system keeps us from making rational comments. Maybe we have not had a good night sleep and a healthy breakfast before we made our comment? I believe most make comments based on our own personal financial situations and get upset at the way the system is now. I have nothing against anyone who has a good lifestyle and wish… Read more »
