Mayor Johnson proposes $16.6B budget that revives corporate head tax, imposes first-ever social media tax – Chicago Sun-Times

The tax-heavy budget, which aims to erase a $1.15 billion shortfall, would hit Chicago businesses hard. It includes a revived and dramatically expanded employee head tax, a second consecutive increase in the tax on cloud computing, a first-of-its-kind social media tax and a broadening of the city’s amusement tax to include online sports betting.

Does the City of Chicago have the authority to impose a “social media tax”? How would the City know how many accounts there are, and how would they collect the data?

With all the empty commercial real estate in the suburbs, how hard would it be for some of these companies to leave the city for the suburbs? And get a lot of incentives from the suburbs?

As Johnson is of obviously limited mental capacity, his handlers are sure coming up with creative ways the squeeze the remaining contributing residents of CHI out of every penny.

Go ahead and do it. Stop talking about it and just impose the taxes. it’s a win win. Chicagoans will love it since they like being abused and your neighboring states thank you.
